“A Weekend I’ll Never Forget
I recently had the incredible opportunity to take part in a Patriots and Heroes event in El Campo, Texas, hosted by the Schicke Point Community. From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of amazing.
As we turned down that last mile of road lined with American flags, it brought a tear to my eye and warmed my soul. It was a powerful reminder that there are still people and communities who deeply honor and appreciate our nation’s veterans.
The Schicke Point community welcomed us with open arms—opening their homes, taking us out on their personal boats to fish, and treating us like family. The food, fellowship, and the Saturday night celebration were unforgettable. Special thanks to Kim, who coordinated everything so beautifully and made sure every veteran felt cared for and valued.
I also want to thank our boat captain, Jeff, and his first mate, John, for a couple of incredible days on the water. They made Eric and me feel like we’d been friends for years.
Patriots and Heroes gave me more than just a weekend of fishing—it gave me peace, joy, and a renewed sense of connection and appreciation. I’ll carry this experience with me for a lifetime.
